Character Rules:
General-
Each person starts out with 10 free characters slots (2 cats for each clan and 2 outsiders), but more can be purchased in the store.
As a way to invite activity and joining, each person may select one item from the store (under 200 prey bones) and use that on their first character. Please remember to mention this.
You may also gain more money by adopting out characters and by adopting from others. By this I mean trying to adopt out your characters' families and adopting characters from other people's character families. This is so that clans can become more like in the books, inter-related. You gain 25 money for adopting out characters, and 50 for adopting from other people. This is to make it easier to create adopted characters when you run out of slots.
So as to keep our clans more like the books, only two of your eight clan characters may nonclan/halfclan/crossclan born, and you may only make your second nonclan-born character after you have made four clanborn characters. If you wish to have more than this many nonclan born characters, or a half-clan, cross-clan litter, they must be bought from the store.
It is only in rare cases that a clan will accept kittypets and rogues into their ranks, especially adults, so don't be surprised if you have a loner/rogue/kittypet who is denied entry into a clan if you try to join. Even if they are allowed to join, they will most likely not be liked or trusted, and will have to prove themselves in many situations.
Crossclan relationships are complicated. Only three are allowed to be going on at once sitewide. If the characters are caught, there will be consequences. Either one or the other will have to leave the clan to join their mate, both will be kicked out of the clans, or the leaders will decide on an appropriate punishment... and since this is against the code, depending on the clan it could get very serious indeed.
You may have at most two High Positions at a time, 1 leader/deputy, one Med cat/ med cat app. Requirements for High Positions will be listed as part of the auditions.
If you wish to have a cat with unusual eye or pelt color (this includes tortie/calico toms), or birth defects,or huge life-changing injuries, you must buy these from the store. What are unusual pelt or eye colors? Well this chart should give you a good idea, COLORS, Colors (from 11 on do not use as a good ref, as they are hypothetical, except for 13),a lot more complexity and colors for cats then you thought right? When it comes to eye color I am not picky, but I consider red, purple, black and white to be unnatural eye colors. Oh just one thing that is a pet peeve. Tortie/Calico toms are RARE, and are usually sterile. Why? Well HERE is a good explanation. When you buy a male tortie/calico from the shop, I will role to see if he could have kittens. However, don’t expect him to pass on the tortie gene, that’s not how it works.
You may use both real-life pictures and designs, HOWEVER, if you are using filled in lineart or any designs that other people made you MUST HAVE permission, and also acknowledge that the artwork is not yours by having a link to the copyright and artist.
Starclan/Dark Forest cats may only be made with special permission from staff (most likely as activity rewards), or if your character dies and goes to Starclan. However, if your character dies relatively quickly after being created, then you may need to get permission, as it may be seen as an attempt to create a Starclan cat without having earned the priviledge.
Any animals other than cats must be bought from store, and require special permission.
To certify that you have fully read these rules, please post the word chocolate in your profile, but try to be slightly discreet about it C:
Naming-
I allow the prefix Sun, as the clans don’t worship the sun, they worship the moon and stars. I do not allow Star or Moon as prefixes though.
I allow certain emotion prefixes, BUT the mother must have a valid reason for naming her kit after an emotion.
I allow Spirit and Soul as suffixes.
I do not allow prefixes like Rainbow/Dragon/Angel etc. If I think a prefix is questionable, I will ask you why the mother would name her kit as such. If it is a good valid reason, I could actually accept it.
Also, due to their being in a different territory they will have a few more prefixes that will be acceptable, such as some sea creatures and the words sea and ocean.
Only five cats on the site may have the same prefix, and only two in the same clan. There are plenty of prefixes to choose from.
Rank Requirements-
Kits must remain kits at least a month but preferably more. This is to allow for time for roleplaying at least one (preferably more) full threads of kit life.
Apprentices cannot be made apprentices any earlier than six moons NO MATTER WHAT. To delay apprenticeship one must have the medicine cats approval (or warning rather), because of either sickness or size or weakness or whatever. Apprentices must remain apprentices for at least 3 months (unless already older) and must complete AT LEAST 3 threads before being considered warriors. 1 hunting/patrol thread, 1 fighting/gathering thread, 1 miscellaneous thread. If you create an apprentice who is already older, then it is up to the leader of the clan to decide when they are ready to be come warriors, so long as you have finished at least 2 of the previously mentioned threads.
Warriors... are basically a free for all. If you want to make a warrior, try not to stay only within 15-35 moon age group, try for diversity!
Queens must be pregnant for at least a month real life. This will give enough time to plan the litter and to hopefully complete at least one roleplaying thread(preferably two or more.
Med cat apprentices can be any age, though more often young cats are taken on as apprentices. To become med cats they must also complete three thread, one herb gathering, 1 healing, and 1 miscellaneous. Usually they gain their full names between 18-25 moons of age.
These next three should try to be at all gatherings, with few exceptions.
Medicine cats should try to attend all half moon meetings at the moonspring, and should be available at any time in case a clanmate is hurt. They should also try to be familiar with what herbs are necessary for what. In a way they are also councilors and guides to their clanmates, so it may be wise to be ready in case cats come to them with their problems.... unless the med cats are jerks.
Deputies without exception must have trained at least one apprentice. Age wise, it is preferable that they are at least above 35 moons, the older range being 70 some moons (when appointed). They do have duties, so if you wish to try for a deputy be ready to post when necessary and organize patrols and such. Be ready to help the leader when it is required of you, or step in when necessary.
Leaders should hopefully be experienced and ready to take charge of their clan. Age wise they should likely be in the 45-90 moons age group, after some 100 moons they may retire, though most often they continue on until their last lives are used up. They are the fireguheads, and thus will consult warriors and deputies and med cats, but ultimately they will make the decisions. Respect your leaders, but also try and talk things through with them if possible. Leaders have to be ready to take responsibility for their clans and for everything that happens in them, if only by taking an interest in everyday activities and clanmates. Leaders must be prepared for Gatherings and for the fact that they will be highly involved in whatever plot will happen, so it is best if you are not super busy.
Elders become elders between 100-120 moons, and are elders until they die. Early inductiosn to the elders den are rare and occasioned mostly by birth defects, early blindness, or crippling wounds.
Miscellaneous-
Remember only elders would remember the dual war, so if you do make an elder, make sure you mentioned what happened to them and how they felt about it.
Please people, no Mary Sues or Gary Stues, which means no perfect, all-powerful, all-knowing characters. If you need help please do not hesitate to ask a staff member. Your characters should be balanced.
You MAY create kits and/or pregnant queens, BUT if you are creating a queen already pregnant, you must have the father already adopted out. If you are creating a kit, you must have the parents already adopted out as well. There may be at one time in each clan nursery a maximum of three litters/ten kits. You won’t be able to create litters or kits or even have them IC if they will go above the limit. This rule may be changed if I find it is far too often abused, or if it just doesn’t work out.
Here Medicine cats CAN have kits... but only if their apprentice is old enough to take care of the clan. This is more for females of course. Nonetheless I will still have a fee for making them, because I don't want the clans swamped by them.
